Be inspired. Do good
What's an Inspired Live fundraising lunch?
Once a month Inspired Live invites an inspirational speaker to share their personal warts-and-all journeys to success over lunch. We'll find out what drove them, how they did it, how you can do it too. By sharing these stories we hope to fire you up with the power of possibility, fill you with hope and inspire you to be your best self. If everyone's taking that extra step, just imagine the possibilities.
This month's Inspired Live talk
Are you sick of looking in the mirror with disgust? Is another diet on your New Year’s resolution list? Do you worry over how to encourage positive body image to your daughters? Imagine if, instead of putting yourself down, you felt the confidence to step up and embrace yourself as you are. And imagine if your daughters, you sisters and your friends could also do this – to allow themselves to shine as they are. Together an empowered sisterhood assured of their self-worth could step up and change the world.
In the next Inspired Live fundraising lunch, body image movement global ambassador Kate Tonkin from Real Food Real You will speak with Inspired Magazine founder Samille Mitchell about the importance of embracing ourselves as we are – not only for our own benefit but for that of our daughters, our sisters and our friends.
Kate will share her own journey from self-loathing to today. She will recount her experiments with bulimia as a young woman, her own negative self-perception, and how she overcame self-negativity to embrace herself, and her body as they are.
It’s not always easy to be kind to yourself but Kate says we owe it not only to ourselves, but also to our daughters, our sisters and our friends, to reject societal convention to put ourselves down and instead have the courage to accept ourselves as we are.
What we’ll cover:
• Why you should ditch New Year’s diet resolutions and replace them with self love ones.
• How to talk to your daughters about their bodies to encourage their self love and positive body image.
• How to embrace yourself as you are.
• The transformations you’ll experience by learning to embrace yourself as you are.
Who are we fundraising for?
Each month we choose a different charity to fundraise for. This month we'll support The Butterfly Foundation, which is Australia’s leading national voice for people with an eating disorder.
Almost one million Australians today are battling an eating disorder. They not only cause psychological impairment and distress but serious physical impairment, potentially damaging every major organ of the body. 20% of Australians with an eating disorder will end up losing their lives to these devastating illnesses, however with support there is always hope for recovery.
